John Stewardson
Founder, Board of DirectorsJohn was born in Maryland and spent his early years there before living on both the East and West Coasts. He met his wife, Amy, in Maryland, and the two have been married for over thirty years. They've called Virginia home for over twenty years, raising three children who are now grown and living locally.
John came to faith in 1980 at Gold Mine Baptist Church, a small country church his mother invited him to. Since then, he's served through music ministry and short-term mission trips, both locally and internationally, and completed a three-year School of Ministry program in theology and church leadership.
It was on his first of three mission trips to Zambia — through a ministry called Every Orphan's Hope — that God moved his heart toward the country's orphans, widows, and vulnerable children. For years afterward, even through a career transition from twenty-two years as a sheet metal worker to construction sales, that call never let go. John now believes the waiting was its own kind of preparation — teaching him patience, obedience, and trust in God's timing.
Today, John and Amy are stepping out in faith to fulfill what they believe God has placed on their hearts — beginning a journey with the Zambian people through Compass 360 Missions, and beyond.
Amy Stewardson
Founder Amy was born and raised in Maryland, where she met and married John, graduated college, and spent over twenty years before the two eventually settled in Virginia. She and John have been married for more than thirty years and have three adult children, now in their mid-to-late twenties.
Amy grew up attending a Baptist church and accepted Christ as her Savior in high school, at a Baptist summer camp in North Carolina. She's served the Lord throughout her life since — through children's ministries, women's ministries, and short-term mission trips. It was on one such trip to Zambia with her family that her heart was touched, and she knew she wanted to return to the country in some capacity to serve.
Professionally, Amy holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and brings over twenty-five years of classroom teaching experience, with a concentration in Special Education. She's served as educational director for a nationally franchised tutoring company, and most recently works as a personal assistant to a young adult man with autism and a vision disorder.
Marcella Camara Macauley
Board of DirectorsMarcela is originally from Sierra Leone, West Africa. Her journey as a childcare educator began almost thirty years ago in Maryland, where she worked alongside Amy Stewardson. For the past twenty years, she's taught preschool through third grade across DC, Maryland, and Delaware, and currently owns Children's Place Child Development Center in Millsboro, Delaware. Marcela is delighted to be part of this ministry, driven by her passion for helping children — especially those who are less fortunate.
B.G. Wratchford
